temp

is 80 degrees fahrenheit too low to incubate leo eggs at, also if I raise the temp after a few weeks will it cause any problems with the hatchlings?

Thanks for the help

I dont think its to low I just think that will make them take alittle longer.

Also I have had th temps change on my leo eggs with no ill effects.

First of all 80* is fine it will just take a little longer and the hatchlings will be a little duller in color. Many threads about this, its known as the Ron Tremper incutbation method, He increases the temp, I don't know maybe 2-3 weeks in to produce brighter hatchlings. Then again, he has top of the line incubators in the world. Don't raise the temperature unless you have a VERY VERY precise incubator like the ones ron tremper uses, by raising the temp to early or to late, it can cause deformities, I think one person posted that after using the RTIM one of the hatchlings didn't have any eyes

Country:
Can't guarantee the brightest babies and 100% female. There's no such thing. You should get 'MOSTLY' females at lower temperatures, but don't bet your last buck on that. There's always a male or two that creeps in. No way can you guarantee sex in TDSD species. Even though brighter colours happen at higher temperatures, it also isn't guaranteed. You can fiddle with the temperatures to improve your odds of getting what you want, but the outcome is just as much luck as anything else.

we incubate all our leo eggs at around 80, (sometimes it goes down to 79). And up to now, all of the babies we hatched are females.

The problem in getting bright babies that will be females, is they won't be breeders (cause you have to incubate above 90 to get bright bright females) and they will tend to have a male charracter, so not good to breed.

Get a nice hypo male or a tang male, you will see even with a regular female, the babies are quite nice, we were suprised with ours.

what I was asking was for a temp that was low enough to produce non-hot females, but be as bright as possible while allowing for the greatest possibility of hatching females. not getting extremely bright babies just the brightest possible while maintaining a female temp without getting the hot females out.

Well there just isn't a set temp, its really luck of the draw, like I said the only real way to get a high percentage of bright females is to use ron trempers method, I'm not saying it only happens if you do it that way, it really is luck, with RTIM it only increases the chances of bright females the highest you can get bright females though is probably 83 * and even then you will get a few males
