what size tank are you thinking of moving your leo to?

how old is your leo, i know you have had it for 4 weeks, but how old was it when you got it?

i changed my albino leo from a rubbermaid to a 10 gallon tank, and she is only 2 months old, i did this last week so she would have been approx 7-8 weeks and she has had no probs as of yet, she started eating again 5 days after i put her in and is now eating everyday like she was before the move. So far no problems ...

I moved my leo out of his 20 gal high into the next biggest size available that I had - a 42 gal - when he started trying to get out constantly when awake. He was well under a year old at the time. He did fine in the larger tank, there were lots of hides, etc. and he knew where food and water was.

I think a 10gal is a little small for an adult.

You might want to take some of any extra tank accessories out for now, so it's less complicated and cramped, and they should fit nicely into a larger setup.

i would say putting s/he in a 20g right now wouldn't be a problem at all, here is a pic of the cage i just built, it is approx 35 gallon and it is housing 1 leo right now that is 8 inches and about 8-9 months old right now and he has had no problems with the change, he has been in this cage for about 3 weeks now.

id say maybe 3 or 4 months? it's really hard to say. but it's too big to be just a couple months, and by 7 or 8 months they are pretty close to adult size, just haven't put on bulk yet. so id say just a few months old. btw, i have one leo in a 15 gallong tank by herself, and two other leo's in a 20 gallong long. they do fine. my cages are pretty simple tho. one humid hide, one regular hide, and a water dish and calcium dish. that's about it.

i got most of the materials at home depot, the air vents i got from Rona, the glass i got from a friend of mine but any glass shop can sell you that ... if you have any other questions please feel free to ask

The main unit is 3/4" maple
The trim is pine
The doors are oak

Total cost not including the glass is about $350 plus all the supplies and stuff for the actualy reptile, that just gives you an idea

that was the rule when i got into herps, that i could have as many of them as i wanted, but there was to be no tanks or anything ugly according to my wife in the main room, if it was to be in the main room then it had to blend in and look good so i built it for her essentially, it looks good where it is now as well, i will have to get some pics of it all done with gizmo in there and post them ...

i do feed crix and what i do is put all the crix in a container, open one side put my arm over to the other side and dump them out and they can't get to the other side quick enough so no worries, or sometimes i just open the lid and dump them in that way, depending on whether i want to open the lid or not
