Rosy boas are nice and easy snakes to take care of, eat rodents, and will fit in a 10. Can't really think of any colubrids...maybe a western hog?

The Rosy boa will easily fit in a 10 gallon . If you have a chance you should pick up Reptiles USA 2004 annual and there is a good article on care and keeping of Rosy Boas and it will give you some background information. My male Whitewater Rosy is in 10 gallon . Another type of snake is Kenya sand Boas .
Hope this helps

I'd definetely say Kenyan Sand Boas or Rough Scaled Boas (be aware they do hide a lot), Rubber Boas or Western Hognose.

Kenyan Sand Boas & Rough Scaled Sand Boas - males average 14 inches & females average around 32 inches.

Rubber Boas: males average 18-21 inches, females 22-26 inches.

Western Hognose average 16-25 inches.

Some rosies can be kept in a 10 gallon. Rosy Boas average 24-36 inches. So all but the larger ones should be okay in a 10.

I'm always paranoid that I might have too small a cage - even though I follow the recommendations of caresheets and others experiences. So to be safe I buy males (since they stay smaller) for my own piece of mind.

Almost any baby Colubrid for the first year anyway. Some of the Mtn Kings etc. stay quite small as adults also. Mark

Pueblan milksnake. Mine is full grown and in a 10gal.

They stay very small with 2-3' the normal adult size but with any snake the size can vary

My advice would be to decide what snake you like best, and then do the research on that speceis, and then go out and get or build the right enclosure for that animal. In my opinion you should give the animal all the space it needs, and then some. If you were in prison, would you want to be in a tiny solitary confinement cell or the Taj Mahal? But if you insist on finding the right snake for this cage, here are acouple that come to mind... garter, ring neck, Brown, De Kay, worm, milk, or maybe a king of some type.
