When you're a breeder, you have to learn to take the good with the bad...this is pretty bad

were supposed to be my first baby Anza Borrego rosies
It's personal now...wait till next year..

Thanks guys& gal..not to worry, like Jeff says, the female is fine and eating again.. I rather this than her being egg or baby bound..
Not sure of the exact problem, but I suspect I missed the fertilization window on these.
They are all brumated in the same room, and I've had other good litters, so it does seem a bit odd. The male was with the female, and she seems to have done her job , however I might not have had them together at the appropriate time. These are quite aggressive feeders and I had to keep splitting them up to feed her as they could have easily eaten each other if fed together. I might have had him out of the cage when she was fertile.

That locality sure looks awesome though. I hope you have babies next year. I gotta convince Ian to get a bunch of those off of you!

Yeah, I concur... I should have got some San Gabriels this year too, but they aren't even 3 yet so I wasn't going to try..The female ovulated, got huge, and when I noticed it, I put the male in, and they did mate, but I think it was too late and I missed the window.
I got no pups from her, but no slugs either..
See Jeff, It's bit tricky keeping them together all the time, because female rosies have enormous appetites pre-ovulation, and I've had them constrict the males, during feeding accidents, so I'm constantly playing musical chairs with the males..but I'll be more careful to not leave the males out too long next year..
I find it a bit hard juggling everything that breeds at the same time... I'm sure you understand!
My big goal this year was two litters of conicus and to produce my first Eryx Johnii... I concentrated more on them and it paid off. I got my 2 concicus litters and my johnii, but focsuing so much attention on them resulted in my first ever Rosy slugs... But no big deal..can't have it all!

yep, had a blizzard corn give me nothing but duds while the other females the same male bred laid well. I too gritted my teeth, began offering more food to get extra weight on her now, and proclaim," Dammit, next year by golly!" lol
