Say Hello To Qizil!

This is the monster of a snake I am living with currently. XD
Meet our 7-some foot long Red Tailed Boa, Qizil!

We haven't had him for too long now-- got him just after Thanksgiving last year when my Parents took me to a Reptile Expo that was nearby. Found him there and took him home with us~

He was originally mine, but I have since "relinquished" ownership over to my Dad on account that I can no longer handle him thanks to his size and weight. Dad does just fine-- and is like a kid in a candy store. Despite everything though I still love this giant~

The majestic giant himself~ Hanging out in his terrarium.
To Note: The tank he is currently in is only temporary. In about a week or so me, my Dad and a neighbor/friend will be building him a much bigger and much more suitable terrarium for his size so he is more comfortable. That way I can put in more necessary stuff like hides and things. Again, the current one is only temporary-- he outgrew it strikingly fast, and we couldn't quite built the other one ahead of time because my Dad had an injury and needed surgery. Hence the delay on his new cage.

This was just around after I got him home~ He was noticably smaller than, but got massive very quick. He loves my black bean cushion chair; loves to climb on it. XD

Despite the small size of his terrarium, we do take him out a few times each week (AKA my Dad does) to make sure he can stretch himself out and isn't crammed up in there ALL the time, and I do work extra hard to make sure his humidity stays at proper levels. Depsite the temporary living space, he is still a healthy boy. He is just slightly cramped right now, but he won't be for much longer!

Re: Say Hello To Qizil!

Yep...my 5' ratsnake escaped and .....despite the obvious old joke that you always find ANYTHING in the last place you look, I actually found Oscar in the FIRST and LAST place I looked!

I went through my closet and pulled out all my shoes. I was a bit lax in putting them back, but when I did, one sneaker was really heavy!!!!

So...I let her have it, and it's her favorite hide now.

To clarify: I spent a couple of weeks tearing the rest of the house apart before I went to putting those shoes up and found her in one.

Re: Say Hello To Qizil!

@Scubadiver59

Pahaha yep, that's EXACTLY what we do~ XD My Dad's favorite thing to do other than just hold him and let Qizil squeeze him like he's a tree is put the big guy on the top of the open terrarium, and just watch him do loops around the top. Then when he's satisfied he just drops right back in on his own. It's practically a ritual now!

@richardhind

Well I am not sure about putting that bean chair in there with him, as I like using it too, buuut...It basically becomes his personal squishy mountain when he is let out. XD So either way, it's only mine when he ain't outside his cage~

Yea, that will be done very soon-- I am bagging the heck out of Dad to his dismay to make sure he doesn't prolongue it any longer than it already has been thanks to his surgery. Snake comes first, above all else. I am annoying him I am sure but, oh well! We want a HAPPY big snake after all!

@Doug 351

...That is simultaneously the most hilarious, yet most terrifying thing I have heard so far.
I'm just imagining you trying to put the shoe on and then feeling a little slithering thing in there. I would loose my mind, haha! X'D At least you found her and she's all right! And has an awesome new hiding place too~
