Escapee
Seriously?
I put Whiskey in his new T8 yesterday but failed to notice how large the hole is where the light cord goes. He was in there at 3 am when I went to bed. I get up at 8 am and there's no snake! Now the room he is in looks like a tornado hit it from me looking in every nook and cranny and I have branched out to the other rooms.

Re: Escapee
The main thing I am worried about is I have a cat that likes to kill things. It's like his favorite hobby.

Re: Escapee
Put a prey item in a container with holes in it in the middle of the room. Place a hide next to the prey item and check occasionally. If you feed F/T, after thawing, warm it up with a hair dryer to get the smell spread around to get him interested in searching for the prey item.
Also put a thin layer of flour across doorways and around the prey item so you can see signs if he is traveling around.

Re: Escapee
So find the cat a place to stay for a few days.

Re: Escapee
The cat is at my mother's house for now. I have booby traps all over the room. So far no luck. I am hoping the thawed rat will work tonight. But not sure since he ate 3 days ago.

Re: Escapee
Having gone through something very similar in the recent past, I can relate to your anguish and concerns. I tried the traps etc. but in the end, my snake just showed up after nine days on the run. I would recommend that you keep the door to the room closed as much as possible and perhaps put some towels or other loose cloth items on the floor to act as hides and then keep checking them on a regular basis.
Good luck and please keep us posted.

Re: Escapee
Good luck - as it is winter she may be in the heating vents if you have them. That's where I found my corn snake a few yrs. ago after a month.

Re: Escapee
So far no luck. I've made sure both his enclosure and the new one for my next arrival have the hole in the top very much covered. So if he does pop up somewhere he will not be escaping the same way twice.

Re: Escapee
Good luck! My bp evaded me for about a week. The night before I had to go on a trip I was packing around 2 am when he literally slithered into my lap. Best timing!

Re: Escapee
Yay he showed up! He got himself caught by trying to get into my dogs water bowl. My oldest dog didn't like it so much and tipped snake and bowl over trapping Whiskey underneath. I found him when I heard metal scooting across my kitchen floor.
