Half blind garter snake advice

I love snakes and all the snakes in my area are not venous, and I don’t have my own snakes so I like to go herping. Today I accidentally found a small garter snake and one of its eyes is damaged. (Yes it’s definitely blind in that eye and there is nothing I can tell that will change that)

Should I release it? It seems healthy other than that but there are preditors in the area and I’m unsure if this will affect its hunting ability, or ability to stay away from predators.

Advice? (I will keep it overnight at the least)
