Jungle corns - updated pictures
Nothing better to do on a rainy Saturday than fill the forum with pictures. These jungle corns (cornsnake X california kingsnake crossbred) are making great progress - growing like weeds and retaining their bold colors. They are almost a year old, clutchmates from a jungle corn to jungle corn breeding. I don't breed these guys - got them from a friend - but it is interesting to see them develop and how intermediate they are between corns and cal kings.
Male normal
Female amel

AHHH! I'M BLIND!
Damn those are some (more) bright snakes Mary, and just gorgeous too. Your snake room must emit light between those guys and the snake in your avatar that I won't make a fool of myself trying to identify (you told me but I can't remember... amel milk of some kind??). You know how to pick 'em.

Beautiful jungle corns Mary! That normal male is really nice, and that female is pretty unreal looking... gorgeous!
MK - the snake in her avatar is a tangerine albino honduran milksnake

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I cannot decide if I like the normal or the amel color better but I definately like the high contrast of these two.
I remain undecided on the issue of whether I would pursue hybrids - can say I don't think the manipulation or trickery required to get some species to cross is anything I would ever have the patience for - if they won't breed naturally, then I don't want the offspring - whether they are members of the same species or closely related ones. These were from two jungle corn parents - that bred readily and showed no inclination to feed on each other.
The babies are a bit weird-looking compared to either corns or kings - but the female albino is the calmest, most clingy colubrid I have ever dealt with - she acts like a little boa - just wants to hang out wrapped around your wrist!
