Pure IJ Granite

2012 female from Nick Mutton. On day 7, she crawled out of her tank and jumped right into my hands, and then devoured three adult mice. We might be in love.

I can't decide on a name...

Re: Pure IJ Granite

thats a good looking granite you have there mate

i really like the colours on that one

imo you should try and get it crossed over onto rats,as it takes a lot of mice to feed a full grown adult carpet, sometimes they take that much a liking to mice, its a task to get them crossed over,i offer them rats straight from the egg

cheers shaun

Re: Pure IJ Granite

Thanks, shauny. Her feeding card shows mostly f/t jumbo mice with a sprinkling of live rat. I just wanted her first meal to go smooth, house rules start tomorrow.

Silliness aside, that's a nice specimen you've got there.

Re: Pure IJ Granite

Girly didn't hesitate to accept her first f/t rat yesterday. Can't wait for her first shed! I will pass along your kind remarks, she definitely deserves it.

Re: Pure IJ Granite

Also, I'd like to open up the conversation to granite carpets and inbreeding. Before buying this girl, Mutton informed me that IJ granites have been horribly inbred over the years and have fairly severe breeding problems because of it. Apparently, my girl's clutch is 20% outcrossed while Nicks' 2014 clutches will be around 60%. I had not heard about granite inbreeding problems before talking to Inland Reptile, and I still can't find a single search result on the matter.
