Holdback Indonesian eyelash viper (Trimeresurus puniceus)
After my female dropped a somewhat disappointing batch (only got 5 live and 13 slugs !), I noticed the one was very different from the others so I kept him back.
Just have a look at this stunner (cell phone pic)...
Will post some more pics soon.
Regards
Louis.

Re: Holdback Indonesian eyelash viper (Trimeresurus puniceus)
i'm sorry to hear you got 13 slugs mate
look on the bright side, you got 5 live and the wee special guy in your picture
will he keep that unusual looking pattern as he grows ?
also will the yellow pattern be as prominant, once adult ?
i'm not methodical enough to keep hots,i'd end up getting tagged
i have massive respect for hot keepers
cheers shaun

Aren't T. puniceus also known as the hump-nosed pit viper? That is one beautiful specimen!! They are on my list of things to own one day, if the fiance ever relaxes about the hots I already have.

That is the coolest looking snake! I love the coloring. And, as Shaunyboy said, much respect for you for keeping hots.

Re: Holdback Indonesian eyelash viper (Trimeresurus puniceus)
Thanks guys !
I really hope he holds his colours as he grows but you never know haha...
Willow, I think that's one of the many common names they are known as. I know people also call them flat-nosed vipers or ashy pit viper ?
I'll update the thread every couple of months so you guys can see him color up.
Regards.

Wow! What a stunner. Do these generally change much as they mature?

Re: Holdback Indonesian eyelash viper (Trimeresurus puniceus)
Thanks for your replies guys !
Males won't change to much as they grow but females will def. go through a colour change as they mature.
Heres some new pics of him...
I'll post some pic of his brothers for comparison later...
Regards
Louis.

He's stunning! I love these guys; they're on my wish list, but my fiance is on a "no more snakes at all" kick, so I don't know how long it will be before I can convince him to budge.
