10 years ago today....
Where were you, and what were you doing?
I was walking out the door to go to work, There was going to be a special on TV, so I quickly turned on the television so I could program the VCR.
I turned the set on just in time to watch the second plane slam into the towers live as it happened.
As a resident of New York, I was horrified at what I just witnessed, then NBC started flipping out, and then quickly cut to Washington to show the damage to the pentagon.
Shortly after the news reports of flight 93 going down in Pennsylvania, I realized that we were under a full attack, what's next.
The towers collapsed.
I called my customers and cleared my appointment list for the day.
We live 20 miles from a runway approach, even though we never hear a plane, I can always look up and see a few preparing for final approach.
Not that afternoon, the only planes overhead were fighter jets.. There is an air force base roughly 70 miles from here, and when they mobilized my place was right in the flight path to NYC....

Re: 10 years ago today....
I was getting ready for work when the phone rang. When I picked up the phone my slightly odd friend (thinks aliens are coming) yelled "America is under attack". Being that I was running late for work, I told him I didn't have time for his crap, hung up the phone and walked out the door.
By the time I got to work, it was all over the news, the second tower had been hit but it was not yet a "known terrorist attack" I worked at the vets office and we had the radio tuned into CBC, and followed it all day.
Of course when I got home I had to call my friend and apologise to him for that morning, since he was actually talking about something that really happened, rather than aliens landing!!!

Re: 10 years ago today....
I was 18yrs old going for a drive to see my mom and had the radio in my car tuned to 107.3 waaf the Hill man morning show. They are big on insane jokes. I heard them talk about what happened to the first tower and I thought it was a joke. When I got to my moms work they where all standing around watching the TV and crying. I joined in... sat still not speaking for a good hour with tears streaming down my face. I will never forget the feeling in the air that day. Driving home I felt as if I was dreaming.

Re: 10 years ago today....
I was 10 years old and on my way to school when I heard it on the radio in my dads car. When I got to school all the tv's were on the news and I got there right as the second plane hit. It was a crazy day. I decided that day I was going to join the Marines but I ended up with Crohn's disease so I'm unable to fight for my/our country.

Re: 10 years ago today....
10 years ago today, i was at work, starting to put together the Christmas trees and decorations for the trim-a-tree department. I remember laughing and talking with my friend Tony, when all of a sudden one of the area sales managers, Bob, came running up and said that a plane had flown into one of the towers. When we got to the break room to listen to the news, the second plane had hit, and the pentagon had also been hit. We were all stunned by the news and realized the country was under attack.
When i left work that day, i remember just sitting in my car, with my radio on, just crying, heartsick at all the innocent lives lost, Mothers, Fathers, sons, daughters, etc who had lost loved ones.
We will never forget that day, no matter how many years pass.

Re: 10 years ago today....
I was in my 4th grade science class when the principle came over the intercom and told all the teachers to turn on their TVs because there was a national emergency. I didn't really understand what happening til the second plane hit. We saw it happen live, then it was apparent that something was wrong. I definitely appreciate everyone that gave up their lives that day to help others. A day that won't be forgotten.

Re: 10 years ago today....
I was at work, someone said they heard a plane had hit the WTC, we figured it was a light aircraft accident, then someone said a second plane had hit. The only TV we had access to was in my bosses RS4, so we watched the footage on a tiny screen with pretty crappy picture, but even with that I remember just being in complete shock. I was like watching a movie, none of us could believe that it was real.

Re: 10 years ago today....
I was at home in bed when my sister called and told me to turn the TV on channel 4. I did and saw replays of the first tower being hit and automatically wondered, what movie is this? and why my sister thought it was so important to wake me up.. then I realized it was real and the second tower went. I will never forget even if Im on the other side of the states how horrifying it was to see them people jumping to thier deaths...
:-( RIP so sorry for those who lost loved ones :-(

I was in 8th grade. I didn't find out about it until 5th period, my science teacher announced to the class that the World Trade Center was gone.

Re: 10 years ago today....
I was only 9 and in 4th grade. I remember seeing my fourth grade teacher, Mrs. McKee crying as she watched the TV and talked to her fellow staff member(the other was specialized for autistic kids and was always there to supervise the ones in our class). I think she may of called some friends or family on the school phone as well.
I recall glancing at the TV and seeing two smoking towers... but I didn't really understand. I didn't even know what the World Trade Towers were or what significance they held. I was extremely confused, but could tell it was something important. I just didn't understand why it was so important.
The day went on, I went home, I remember walking into Daddy's room and seeing it on his big TV on his dresser. I was, once again, so very confused and remembered thinking,"Wait... It was on TV at school... but why is it on TV at granny's place? Why are they interested in it, too?"
Ahhh childhood... I didn't understand a thing </3
I remember I was so bummed Mrs. McKee didn't read her Harry Potter books at the end of class that day. Thinking back, if I understood, that should have been the very least of my concerns. :c
