beautiful jungle carpet python
Hello,
I have been creeping this forum for along time, but this is my first post. I would like to share some pics with you of a jungle carpet that I acquired recently. She has quite the story behind her, leading me to beleive that she is a pure jungle carpet python.
I thought she looked absolutely beautiful, and i couldn't help but walk out with her. I read that these snakes don't get so bright and vibrant in the wild, and so if that is the case, does this mean she is not a pure jungle carpet?
She was apparently a wild caught specimen.
I read that alot of breeding has been done to increase the colors in the jungle carpets, and that to get those vibrant colors, they were crossed with other types of carpet pythons.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

Welcome to the forum mate nice snake.
As for the Qs.... I would highly doubt that it is a wild caught specimen unless the animal is at least 40 years old. They do get quite bright depending on where in their range you are in different parts of the range have different looks. There are even jungles that are silver and black...

Hello and welcome! Beautiful Jungle. Like Red ink said unless it over 40 years old there's no way it's wild caught. Do you know when and where it was supposed to have been caught at?

in europe a lot of high yellow jungles have been paired up through the years to create a high yellow german line of jungles.these jungles are the deepest of black with a strong vibrant yellow the best of them being neon yellow
there is also a german named marc mense who does a lot of work with black and white jungles he calls them ivory jungles
in europe and the uk jungle's have been used in a lot of breedings to give the breeding project the sought after high yellow look
in the uk the most sought after and hardest to find are the high yellow jungle's for the most part jungles over here range from muddied brown to gold to yellow and everything inbetween
imo jungles over here do not resemble their wild counter parts as they have been bred too specifially for this high yellow look.if red ink saw them he would most likely agree they are nothing like a wild example
there has been a ban on exporting reptiles from Australia since 1982 if memory serves me correctly
there are exceptions where the ozzy government will export to zoo's and some lucky private breeders but that does not happen too often.they did however release a breeding group of morelia carinata (rough scaled pythons) to terry philp of the reptile garden in the usa and also a breeder in norway a couple of years ago
terry philp went on to breed his but last i heard from him he was waiting on word back from the ozzy government as to what he was allowed to do with the roughie hatchlings
cheers shaun

I beleive she was caught some time in 2008. I can't recall where in austrailia he got her, but he found her during his visit there, and the locals helped him get her back here.

I would be very doubtfull of that story mate. All australian wildlife are CITES protected and it is internationally iilegal to take them out of the country without permission of the Australian government. Permission that is not freely given.
The Australian customs department are expert at detecting wildlife leaving the country and we have sniffer dogs specifically trained to detect animal and plant matter. If that jungle did manage to bypass all the security protocols even with the help of the locals (another doubtfull part as aussies in general don't like their natives leaving the country and it would take a lot of $$$$ for "some" to do so), that jungle would be sold at a price closer to 5K due to it being a source of new genetic material and the risk and the amount of money needed to illegally smuggle it out of Australia. (being female and wildcaught probably she would fetch at a price closer to 10K)
Either mway mate of it's origins it's a nice snake.
