Playing fetch with monitors
Friend took his dog to the park to play fetch and decided to bring his monitor along for kicks. After a few minutes the monitor got to the ball first and tore the crap out of it, then smashed it on a rock.
Note to self, don't play fetch with a monitor unless you pack extra balls.

Re: Playing fetch with monitors
Heheheheh
I play fetch with my little guy but only works with one particular piece of wood from his substrate, when we cleaned out his enclosure i kept the piece of wood to one side and put him back into the new fresh enclosu. He tore the whole thing to pieces digging through the substrate and throwing it all about so i showed him "his" piece of wood through the glass and he ran to the doors and stared at me, opened the doors and threw it to the far side and ran off, picked it up and ran back to me. All we got to do now is teach him to drop it, sometimes he wont let go and wants to play tug of war with it but am scared he will hurt his teeth or mouth so normally have to wait for him to drop it before throwing it again.

Re: Playing fetch with monitors
Lanky, that is HILARIOUS that your guy is obsessed with a particular piece of wood. You need to get shots of him carting it around and such.

He is full grown bar an inch or two - would love a big monitor but not got the space.

Re: Playing fetch with monitors
"Tug of war" is actually a very good thing to do with your monitor, to help with neck muscles and what not. We recently lost a komodo at the local zoo because his muscle decayed from not having to work for food, and wasn't able to eat anymore.

muscular atrophy is such a terrible way for any reptile to die.

Re: Playing fetch with monitors
Indeed, they had gotten rid of almost all their herps, and I won't lie the keepers there where well over there head. I offered to take care of the komodo for them free of charge, but apparently it wasn't worth the risk of me being in the cage with him.. Bet they regret it...
I'm glad they shut down their herp house, they didn't know what the hell they where doing.

happens all over.
I snagged my BP from a chick who was using her apartment for a crack house. (more ways than one) and he was a mess.
They thought it was "cool" to display him without a hide on top of a pair of speakers with 15" woofers.
I flipped out on her, she said "snakes don't have ears"
