Question My snake has lost a tooth - do I need to take him to a vet?

Hi

My boyfriend was giving my snake, (George) fresh water last week. He didn't look what he was doing and gave my snake a bit of a scare - and George bit him on the hand (something he has only done once before in 14 years!)

Both Goeorge and my boyfriend seemed fine but today my boyfriend pulled what he thought was a splinter from his hand - this turned out to be one of my snake's teeth!

George has eaten since then and seems happy but should I take him to the vet to get him checked out just in case?

Thanks

Jess

I'm pretty sure he'll be fine, just keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't get an infection in his mouth.

Snakes lose teeth all of the time. No big deal they grow new ones. Monitor its mouth for signs of swelling or infection. Chances are there will be none. I have pulled plenty of snake teeth out my knuckles over the years LOL & its always me that gets "injured" not them. They tend to fair pretty well. They are meant to strike prey & that involves losing teeth sometimes. Mark
