I've gotten two from my local pet store, but won't buy from that particular store anymore because both came with mites, and I REALLY don't want to have to deal with them if I don't have to. I'll be gettin my herps from breeders from now on.

Reptile Shows and breeders are where most people get their reptiles. Every so often you will find somone who has obtained their herp from a petstore. Most people don't purchase from petstores, their knowledge of the husbandary and care of reptiles is often less than exemplary. I would reccomend a reptile show if you were looking to purchase one, they have the widest variety which usually enables you to make a good choice.

Like most people I bought my first two from pet stores. Since then they've come from private sales, adoptions and breeders. I'd never buy from a pet store again unless they had something I was having trouble finding.

Well Iv gottn mine from many sources, breeders, online, petstores, addoption, iv even found some, not local species, a veiled chameleon last november in sarnia, and a green iguana 3 years ago. Wherever you get your animals you just want to make sure, they know what their talking about, the animals are healthy and their enclousers are clean.... Pet stores are a last resort bcause the ppl who usually run them dont care about the animals and just care about the money. How ever i do work in one locally, I operate the Reptile Section. And yeah i have alot of people coming in with problems from other petstores where the employees honestly dont know what their talking about, give them the wrong info, Dont tell them anything about lighting....... So wherever you get your animal ask them alot of questions, if they cant awnser them, dont do buisness with them, If they sell animals they should know all the care involved, And always research research research!!! You want to know everything about the animal befor ever even thinking about taking it home.
