How to tell gender.

You need to pop or probe it. I would suggest taking it to someone experienced in that area. Get them to show you how. As for the name thing, call it Jo for a female, or Joe for a male. Worked for my cat.

Dont the males have 'spurs' around their vent?

They all have spurs sometimes the males have bigger ones but not always so you can't always tell, the best be is to prob or pop, but again as already said get someone experienced to do it and if you feel comfortable get them to show you how so you can check next time.

i can probe snakes was shown how but what does popping one involve (have no plans to do so but am curious how it is done
