Be very, VERY careful at the expo. If you are new to herps & don't know all of the area breeders well, you could end up with some pretty shabby animals. Those in the field i trust have warned me that at least half of the vendors are shady: selling hatchlings that have not yet eaten, are not proven healthy, are wild caught, left-overs or so in-bred that the animal is not 'right'. After many go's, I've become rather disenchanted with the expo. There's never anything new & the prices are often not different than the store. It will be fun the first time, though. Just be careful to stick with reputable breeders.

i agree completly with wadawas, my last expo experience was less than great. i was hunting around for an argentine boa and couldnt find any around me, so when i new an expo was coming, i called vendors to find out if they had one and one vendor did. turns out, when i got him home, he had a RI and the worst attitude. he was the product of some serious inbreeding, and unfortunately, i had to bring him back because he was soo agressive, i mean snapping at the tank when you walk past him at five feet away. luckily they took him back and traded me a baby suriname. if you do go, just BE CAREFULL and make sure you know exactly what youre getting before you bring it home.

Speaking for myself as a newbie to the Toronto Reptile Expo and the others with many years of experience there. You'll find mostly everyone is down to earth and care a lot about their reptiles! Don't be afraid to ask questions and for extra help if you are bringing home a new pet. But always do your research before hand! Makes things so much easier! You'll find a lot of killer cresteds there. Goodluck!

A good breeder IMO will take the time to answer any questions you might have regardless if you're planning on buying from them or not. They won't push a sale on you either!
I myself have yet to come from an expo with a negative experience or a sick animal, but it does happen.
As far as buying a Crested - gender - you'll be lucky to find any sexed, or if it is it'll more than likely be male. Usually the average age for Cresteds at shows are 2-5 months.
A healthly Crested will be alert and moving around, and shouldn't be overly skinny, but at that size they still look small!
Colour - the breeder will usually give you a fair idea of the colour(the price will too ) But you must remember that they'll fire up more once you get them home and settled in.
Hope this helps a bit. There's lots of excellent breeders at the shows, just check out the expo website and even check out a few of the vendors websites beforehand! Good Luck!

Rough estimate here. I've seen prices anywhere from 80 - 200
Tans and single colours being the low end while fires and harliquins being the higher end.
As far as colours you should be looking for look for one that appeals to you!!! Remember they'll be draber at day and will even get more colour to them as they get older!

if you are still looking for
I was jsut cruising and saw where you might be interested in a argentine. I know for sure the sean at Pro Reptiles.com has some year old ones, you might try him. Also dont be to alarm at the responce of the argentenes they have the nature of hissing and puting up quite a bold front

Alot of excellent vendors are regulars on this site, little dragon being one of them. But as far as posting prices on the forums it's against the rules, unless they stick it in the classifelds.
Just keep an eye on the ads a week or so before the show, vendors tend to post sample pics of a few things they're bringing.
