well if you want something that looks more natural use tile.. jus get it cut to size and pop it in your tank.. very easy to clean and dispurses heat really nice...

well leos are usually on a more rocky terrain and they tend to lick there sourroundings... which can make them impacted so ya sand is kinda bad.. its best to use no loose substrate

I thought I'd experiment for sand with my leos. I stopped using it after 1 week! His poop consisted mainly of sand. I used potting soil for my natural display tank and astro turf for the other.

I would not take a chance with sand. I purchased a fattie and she never would eat. I took her to the vet and found out she is impacted. I have spent over $400. for her impaction and she is still going to the vet three times weekly for an enema. She is far from on the healthy side. I will never purchase a reptile from anyone who keeps their reptile on sand. I use slate and paper towel.

Hmmmm i have heard that some leos are good on sand, and some arent. Perhaps it is just luck and difference in animal. Everyone always seems to think that leos come from the desert and live on sand, but really they come from rock areas where sand is of a small degree
