the 22 of Sept. Both are mature one weighing about 830g's when he stopped and the other about 1160g's. One is CBB and the other is CH or WC either way he came from a pet store and is probably a mirdo special. So any thoughts? I figure they are just having a winter fast but I think they are both losing weight already. I'm going to weigh them all tomorrow to see. I have tried a few tricks of the trade but I have put no real effort into it so far.
Thanks,
Trevor
Well the bigger one took a mouse F/T tonight. He then took a hopper rat but I dropped the lid down on the cage and he flew into one of his hides. I covered the tank with a towel and left the room. I hope he goes back for it. With the other guy I offered a live fuzzy rat, eyes not yet open and no luck. Still have not weight him yet.
Thanks for any thoughts,
Trevor
Tried it with both of them. The bigger one did take both the mouse and the hopper rat. With the other one I even tried leaving in a live fuzzy (eyes not open) rat with him to see if he would take it but no such luck. For a while he would eat by me placing him in a small Rubbermaid all night with a F/T rat but now even that is not working. I have among other resources the ball python manual. I'll check that again to see what it says.
Thanks,
Trevor
What kind of temps do you have in your cage?
Is it possible with the drops in outside temps the cages have gotten cooler which may have induced fasting in your snakes.
Jeff: For a male doesn't 800g's constitute sexuall maturity?
He has sperm plugs.
Stormyva: The hot spots are always between 90-95 during the day. The ambiant during the day sometimes gets as high as 85 but is normally 80. At night some times it drops to 70. This is what I think may have started the fast too. The other ball the one that I know is CB has started eating again.
Thanks,
Trevor
Yeah that's what I'm thinking. I once had a 7yr old LTC that would stop eating like clock work in Sept and not touch food again until June. The other one has eaten though so that's good.
