Snakemaster
Anyone else see the snakemaster lizards in australia episode last night? I'm sorry but this guy is a f'in nut! I really dont think he knows how to handle a lizard in the wild. Sticking his hand, foot, and head in the Parente monitors burrow!? Is he nuts?! I was hoping he'd take it off. I'm sorry but a lizard in the wild should be left alone, but if it happens to stop to let you take pictures by all means! But why cause it so much stress, and he was basicly squeezing the life out of its neck. Then after he let the sand monitor back its tree he chased it up the tree, what was the sense of that? Don't get me wrong I like to see all these animals but if it means stressing them out so badly I'd rather not see it. Needless to say it wasnt worth the hour I spent watching it to see 4 or 5 lizards Ive seen close up anyways. And who would go through the desert on a dirt bike? Don't you think that would scare them hundreds of feet before you get to most of them?
I don't like Steve Irwin all that much either but atleast he goes by foot through places when he's looking for things. Ok I'm done griping

Irwin truly does love the animals though, he's always very gentle. Never seen snakemaster, don't get it here. My fave is Robbie Bredl, although he's definately not all there, and sometimes stresses the animals more than he needs to just to show off his bushman-ness. Mark O'shea shows are good as well..

Rob Bredl is funny as hell... always has something in his shirt "for later".
Who doesn't like Steve-O.... makes me laugh all the time.
Snakemaster isn't that good... I'd rather watch Mark O'Shea

Iv covered this befor. He is just a user. And alot of his show is clearly staged. anyone see the episdoe ith retic? he rolls around on the ground with a wild retic which he claimed to be 22foot but was more like 16-17. He clearly states, you dont want a snake this large on you and what does he do? throws it over him self and tries to wrestle it. He put a snake in his mouth because he couldnt hold it and climb a tree at the same time. He's jumped out of a tree with a snake in his hands. Jumped in to the water ontop of a snake to catch it....... He's going to end up like the guy who ot bit by the croc in the vid someone posted. I realy dont think he knows that much about the animals in which he is capturing.
Jeff > * his animal voices and general presentation for the eduction of the species he's dealing with is top notch. Steve used to be good but his episodes lately are lacking that old flair.

Actually there was one episode where Steve actually does us a dirt bike throught the desert.
The animal will get stressed either way in its life. Probaly was a captive reptile anyways.

Like the shows hosts or not, the more important aspect of the Steve Irwins, austin Stevens, etc.. Is that it gets people and kids to WATCH the shows and hopefully start caring more about animals and conservation of them and their habitats..
I think that.. the bigger picture.. is what is the best thing about these shows..

Anyone see the Corwin episode where a Mexican kid is laying in a hospital bed from a snake bite and Corwin is explaining what is going to happen to this kid if he doesn't get treated right away.
He then says, "And the hospital seem to be out of anti-venom".
After a pause and a pan (of the camera) to the terrified kids face, he then pulls some out and starts to laugh.... what a cruel *******.
He's kinda enjoyable, *sometimes*.

Sometimes the "big picture" is pulled out of focus by an idiot, though.

I do hate the way some of the hosts of those shows treat the reptiles, even my 5 yr old son has commented on it. But he still loves to watch and I am sitting right there with him. My lil guys favs are Steve Irwin and Rob Bredel.

Reguardless of what they do and how they do it at least the general public is being educated, badly or not, about the reptile world.
