Flying frog

I was on my way home tonight and heading south on Wharnecliff road, when a tree frog came flying through my open window and landed in my lap.

So now there's a tree frog in a box in my living room.

I'll post some pics of the little devil shortly. He sure is cute.

About 70 kph.

I'm still not sure where he came from. Whether he was on the truck the was in the other lane and slightly ahead of us, or somehow crawled across the roof of the car while I was driving and dropped in the window.

I'm just glad he moved, cuz I was pretty grossed out when the dark, glistening lump came in the window and hit me with a soft splat.

So, anyone have tips on how to catch pinhead crikets?

I had a test batch I bought last weekend growing in a rubbermaid, in anticipation of future bug eating pets.

So now there's a little frog that needs feeding and I've only managed to catch 3 of the damn things

It would obviously be easier if there wre dozens, then I could just shake some into a cup.

While on that subject, where's the best place to get a few hundred crickets at once around London?

is it a native species? ( i have no idea where your from)
i would try a few fruit flys on him as well, my friend owns a treee frog and he eats those. she grows her own on old bananas.

I'm considering taking him to Pinafore park this weekend and letting him go, but I'm not sure if there are any locality issues. Do they tend to be in very small locales? Or should it be safe to release him in any wooded area?

Here is a map of recorded tree frogs of southern Ontario, Perhaps you could use it when selecting a release site.

good place for crix is south west pet centre, I dealt with them a few times in the past... nice frog!

cruciform, put SEVERAL small styro or plastic cups in your crix enclosure, and when you need to feed, just grab one that's probably covered with them and shek them into his cage

If you put in a few toilet paper rolls the crickets will crawl right in and you can shake them into the cage. It works every time.

I find egg cartons work too, just place a few pieces in the cage, and wait like 10 minutes

Hopefully I can get a half decent deal on crickets if I buy a few hundred. At Superpet it's $1.50 for a dozen. I was planning on building up a feeder colony anyway, so instead of doing it slowly over time I'll just buy a few hundred and start the plague o' crickets all at once
