Advice please...

My male beardie, Dr.Gonzo, sometimes seems to experience problems pooping. It seems like he has been like this since he recovered from impaction about 4 months ago. Sometimes I notice that the last 3rd of his tale turns dark in color when he is trying to poop.

I`m not too sure why he does this, and I`m not sure if this is normal or not. He changes color quite often, bit it`s wierd none the less.

Any advice would be helpful.

He is in a 55 gallon aquirium, and all temps are a-ok.

Thanx.
Robbio

What are you feeding him? What is his substrate that you are keeping him on?

I`m currently keeping him on repti-sand. For food he get crickets and mealworms, and salads of Bok Choi, bluberries and kale daily.

I would say take him off that substrate. If he is having problems defecating and has been impacted before I would say it is substrate related. You should try him on paper towel, bran (only if you do not keep water in the cage) or astro turf and see if that helps him. I would say that is his best bet as he is probably stricking at crickets and getting sand in his mouth and it is collecting inside him.

Hope that helps
