Smile Record #of eggs!

I don't often have time to post, but I have to share this. This year my 4 yr old female Beardie has laid 7 clutches of eggs, one of the cluthes she laid totalled 37 eggs. I find this pretty miraculous. She is kept in a separate enclosure and has been mated to her male partner, Leroy twice this year. She is extremely healthy, and still quite robust, despite all this egglaying. Does anybody know what the record number of eggs laid is for a Bearded Dragon? I am pretty sure she is done laying for this season ( I certainly am hoping so!) - she is extremely special to me and I am a little concerned that she could shorten her lifespan being such a prolific breeder - Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated!

I had a beardie lay 130+ eggs. I think 134 or 139 I can't remember it was about 6 yeard ago but I was quite suprised she was a very big animal, I think 18-20 inches.

Wow! That's incredible! My female is 22 1/2 inches in length. She's huge! Is there any concern about her health with her laying such large clutches? Thanks for the prompt response!

Was that all at one time it laid that much, or is that all of the eggs from the several clutches it laid in a month or so?? 140+ almost seems impossible for an 18" beardie.

No.....not all at one time. A female can lay that many from one breeding though as they can retain sperm.

So....a female is bred once and has a clutch of eggs and then goes on to have subsequent clutches without breeding again. We had a female retain for 8 months. We have also had a female that had 7 clutches approx. every 3-4 weeks from only one breeding.

The record for eggs in one clutch is still probably held by one of Kevin Dunne's Breeders at Dragon's Den. It was a GG and I believe it layed 68 eggs.

I think that everyone thought you were talking about all in one clutch. That makes more sence with what you are saying now. Splizzy was saying that it was alot for her female to lay 37 eggs in one clutch. Anyway, nevermind.
