Throughout the week, I will be taking five adult bearded dragons, who are each over three years of age, and have been housed on sand since they were at most eight months of age, for some diagnostic testing to determine how much, if any, sand is in their system. I for one, am not a fan of myths or rumours, so I am out to find out for myself. I will share the information with you once obtained.

Keep in mind that even though animals kept on sand may not die of sand impaction, they still regularly ingest it and even the presence of sand isn't an indication that sand is not suitable. All of my animals pass large amounts of sand daily with no ill effects.
