Question concerning my hides ...

Hi everyone
Well in this post i will put 2 pictures to show you the top view of my terrarium and a picture of the hide i think will be too small once he gets bigger but at the moment it seams to be his favorit since he prefers hanging in it then the other one that is made for adult size geckos ( thats what i was told )

Should i change the smaller one ASAP or wait till he does realy get bigger and cant fit in it anymore ?? what are your opinions on this ??

here are the pictures ...

small hide
top view of terrarium
adult size hide

Thank you all in advance

The hide sizes are both fine, but where is the moist hide? Half our adults love something about the size of your smaller one... they curl up in it and sleep (our largest doing that is 8" and about 75g)

No moist hide at the moment?!Are you aware of how important that is?!It aids shedding and Prevents dehydration get one in ASAP!!!My Leo hardly ever drinks water from its waterbowel but it does lick all the water off its moist hide...so make SURE that moist hide gets in asap...and both those hides should fit for your leo

Hey, why not turn the larger hide into a moist hide?? YOU then would have one moist and one dry hide?? I don’t Keep any geckos at the moments, but when my snakes have moist hide's in its just the normal hide with a layer of damp moss/ damp paper towel (or any other damp substance I have around lol). Its fairly easy too lift that larger hide and place something damp underneath, then mist inside it if you have a mist bottle. When I did have Leos I did not have a moist hide, but I did mist the walls of his cage and one of his hides every night. And he would catch drops coming down the side. That was years ago though.

As for your hides, I would leave them both in, I find most reptiles like hides that they are cramped in, makes them feel secure. In big hides they just cram into a corner any way.

Hmm spraying a bit on the plants wont hurt, although I would get the walls as well with a fine mist. Neither will water on sand, I used sand as well when I had mine. Is it possible too lay a thin flat stone (or even a plate )under the hide too place a damp substrate on (If you really don’t want too have damp sand), that would allow you too have a damp hid without getting too much water in your sand.
And as a side note water will evaporate no matter what you do, because it's hot in a cage. The majority of the water loss you witness is evaporation even if your geckos drinking from it. And almost all geckos prefer licking mist, so I would give the enclosure a spray nightly as well. It will dry up very quickly, but your gecko will lick what he wants well he can. And I’d leave the water bowl their as well encase he feels like drinking from it.
