leg spasms?

Hi everyone-
I have question. I have a female leo who is about 1 1/2 years old. She has never been bred or laid eggs. She is my fattest leo, and her appetite is good. Anyway, I look at her this morning and she is getting ready to shed. Her skin is gray up to about her neck so far. Only her head hasn't turned gray yet. So I'm sitting here on the computer and she begins having spasms in her front two legs. This has never happened before. Does it sound like calcium deficiency, or something related to her shed? I'm asking because I have never seen this happen during a shed or otherwise before. Thanks.

I'm not sure what is happing you might want to call a vet and ask.

I know when i puchase a 6 month old female (3 years ago) she had a calcium deficiency (2 weeks after i got her she showed signs of it). One day she was fine the next her back legs had small spasms then the day after she started dragging her back legs. The vet i went to said it was from lack of proper calcium.

From what I know, muscle spasms are an indicator of MBD. (Metabolic Bone Disease, caused by calcium deficiency)

Muscle spasms/tremors are a later symptom though, and the leo may have had it for a while. Are there any other symptoms you've noticed?

Your best luck would be to take it to a vet, who will give her xrays, some calcium and maybe some vitamin supplements.

Good luck
