Fire Skink *many pics*
Well I finally got around to take a few pics of my li'l fire skink I received from Lowell Shaw. Had one of these beauties before, but he was quite the biter. I saw Lowell had an ad on the TARAS forums so I asked him about his fire skinks and we arranged for me to get one at the TARAS show last weekend. He held back a nice big and beautiful one for me.
I really like this girl (I think it's a girl). She's a bit squirmy, but after a bit of handling, she calms right down. Once she's had enough, she gives a little nip and I put her away. I take her outside for a bit of sun. She appears to be eating mealies and wax worms. I don't feed anything crickets.
I'm really enjoying this girl. I only wish I had picked up another one! I'm totally in shock, that Lowell did not sell out of these totally at the TARAS show. You guys don't know what you're missing. I think a nice baby CB would be an excellent pet, which is why I got her.
Anyway, here's some pics of this beauty. I'm not a good photographer so excuse the bluriness.
Some branch shots.

Her beautiful face. Look at the red, and the black stripes under the chin and the absolute gold scales on the back. There's just a few, but WOW! These fire skinks are absolutely the most beautiful skinks in the world.

A body shot, look carefully you can see the bluish spots on her tail.

An absolutely great buy for a beautiful, and cute li'l pet lizard.
Thanks a ton Lowell!!

Very Nice Katt!! I see your camera is showing her off extra well! LOL
I've bred those guys... Nice skinks. They need to be kept moist, seem to benefit from good lighting, eat tons, and fight with each other so be warned. Mine ended up with all regrown tails
Sexing them is tricky. Males have wider heads but its pretty subtle.

<laugh> The red is a bit too bright, but not too far off!! I figured it wasn't worth the effort in toning it down a bit since she is REALLY bright.
She's all by herself. So no regrown tails happening here.

Great shots, Katt! The little monster must have shed since the show as the colors are nice and bright again. The real sunlight probably helps that too.
Glad he/she has found a good home,
Lowell
