Smile California Amphibians (lots of pics)

Thought I would share some pictures I took this morning of some Slender Salamanders (we found probably 15 of them throughout the morning) and a California Newt.

This is also my first post here, so hi all!

Edit: Pictures didn't show up here, but are posted below.

Your CA Newt is actually an Ensatina

It is for sure an Enstina, and by its appearance, and guessing, it looks as though it is from the the Central Coast Range. The subspecies is Monterey Ensatina. Pictured here is a California Newt http://elib.cs.berkeley.edu/imgs/512...0202/0148.jpeg

Thanks everyone! And Fieldnotes: I found all these guys in Santa Barbara, so you're right on with the central coast guess. I'm not great with identifying local amphibians, so I was going on descriptions from the Audubon Society Field Guide, and comparisons to species/photos held by the local natural history museum. Thanks for the info!
