tegu help

Hi i woke up this morning and i looked at my tegu and he had a bulge coming out of his butt. it is fleshey. i thought it might be his genitals but it hasen''t gone away.

He is way to young to be ready to breed and i have droped the temp but i haven't done anything else.

Can you tell me what that is and what i should do about it.

Should i go and see the vet???

Thanks for all your help

Sean

Yes you should take him to a vet ASAP!

(it sounds like he *might* have prolapsed something, in any case he needs to see a vet.)

holy crap, this exact same thing happened to my tegu like 6 months ago,if it is pink and fleshy, keep it clean and see a vet asap,as stated above this IS a prolaspe,it may need to be operated on,but my tegu was just put on his back, they put either salt or sugar on it to reduce swelling, and they popped it back in without anestisia(not saying you Tegu will be the same way though)they pushed it back in,and he's been fine ever since, after he pulls through get a fecal sample to check for internal parasites,if you're feeding him a steady diet of worms and crickets the exo-skeleton on these guys can be harmfull to a tegu, change his diet if that is the case!let us know how everything turns out for you

I hope one of you can me.

You should get that Tegu checked out. Even if it went away, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Hope all goes well!
