Wooooo Hooooooo
today i bought a hopper for Farkus, and prayed she would take. this hopper was a little bigger than usuall, and was jet black. as soon as i got the mouse into my herp room (my room) Farkus lifted her head and was smelling the air, i stunned the mouse and held it in front of her, and i thought she was going to do the same thing, just try and climb up the mouse. BUT NOT THIS TIME, she hit it killed, and downed the mouse. i was so excited i stepped away, and made my brother leave the room so she woundnt refuse i was sooooo happy.
BTW this mouse was black, and the other i tried were wite, could she be attracted to darker mice, or was it just a coincidice? thanx alot

she could definitely be more attracted to the brown or black mouse. I've been studying a lot and their preferred food is gerbils, (which are normally brown) and so some snakes do the food imprinting thing. Some snakes will take white mice fine and others want color. They all have different preferences. BTW Congrats!!! We want pics the next time!!

That's awesome! Congrats! As Mango mentioned, snakes can definitely develop preferences to prey.

Congrats on getting her to feed!
Luckily my two that are feeding do not have a color preference, I have a hard time finding mice or rats that are not plain white lab rodents so it would be a pain for me My newest male has yet to feed after one unsuccessful attempt (have had him for 1 week today), hopefully he will be the same.

you know they are soooo picky. my girl likes colored prey ( i keep telling myself maybe it adds to the flavor) but my boy will only eat white prey ( maybe he's racist? lol ) i dunno.....
