Hm... well, I guess they poop. That's the only con I can think of... OH! You need to feed them! lol
They have pretty good disposition. All my adults are very tame and have never struck or bitten (except at food, or once my hand which unfortunately smelled like a mouse), and I rarely handle mine. My littlest female is a little on the wiry side, but when I handle her more often she chills. My male is just a doll... I take him out and he just wraps around my neck for a few hours
 .
While they aren't as tame as a burm or a boa, they are far from crazy. They just tend to be more active. My big female will get impatient with me if I have her out for a long time, and will warm me with little loud-breaths.
Even my babies are tame. They are a little zippy, and slither around my hands, but never try to "run" away or bite me. I was struck at once by one of the babies when attempting to untanbgle him from some heat-pad wires. However, even then it was a warning snap, and he could have hit me but didn't.
So, their tempermants are better than that of any JCP i've ever met, but coastals do tend to be calmer. But they come with a bigger size.
Also, IJs make great display snakes! Mine are always out and about, and rarely hide.
Zoe

Here's another pic. .
I took that on the first day I got her when I got home with her. Totally cool and calm. They are really "I'm in charge, so follow my rules and you're safe" snakes, as opposed to my boas which are more like "what? you want me to over there? fine, okay".
I love em :] (obviously)
And thanks for calling me an expert! Though I don't really consider myself one, I am honoured that you do

One con is their stubborn fixation on mice as prey. Unless they are started on rats very early they can be very hard to convert to anything other than mice. Though some lines are moderate in size, some are quite large and our adult female is over 6 feet and will not accept anything other than mice, so makes for extended feedings.
That is the only negative i can think of about them - they are moderately priced, great size, not too heavy bodied, wonderful color and patterns and becoming more popular, as they deserve to be.

Yeah, the mouse thing is VERY true. They are supposedly easy to convert. It's BS, if you ask me.
Which is why I'm starting my babies on rat pinks!
No problem! You will be so very happy with your purchase!!

JCP's are still harder to get on rats than IJ's I think. so that'd be a pro!
I say there are no cons. unless you want a bigger snake, cuz IJ's arent big.

I think neither is any harder to get on anything....it all depends on the individual animal. Why do we need to label something as the 'most' tame, or the 'pickiest eater'. All of our sample sizes are too small to state this as fact....
They all kick *** and that's a fact! cheers.

Of those who own both IJ's and JCP's.. they will tell you that thier JCP's tamed down quickest, and are less likely to be skittish or startled when holding them. To my knowledge you've never kept an IJ.

Was this for me?
I currently own an adult female and have owned three other Irians in the past. I would say that they have been more aggressive in my experiance than any jungle or coastal I have owned. I have worked with 2.4.7 coastals, 2.4 jungles, and 1.3 Irians.
