Just a few new critters I've aquired.

Caramel Atrox and his 100% het lady friend.

Trans Pecos. May do a revamp on the enclosure since these guys are more of an arid dweller, but figured they're found in gardens too and it was already set up anyway..

Arizona, awesome snake.

My big Girl. Little over 5'. Also have an 18".

Bitis crusing the streets.

Amazing reptiles Krok. Congrats! The bitis has some aberrant coloration, I haven't seen that before.

Great collection, more a viper lover?

Is that trans pecos a rat snake or a hot of some kind?

It looks almost like a copperhead is what I immediately jumped to... But I could be wrong.

Yes, it is a Trans-Pecos Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix pictigaster). A recent paper proposed revisions to the genus Agkistrodon, including reclassifying this animal as a Broadbanded Copperhead (A. laticinctus). Beautiful snake though, that Blacktail is very nice as well.

Re: Just a few new critters I've aquired.

Thanks guys.
Yes, Venom, I fancy Crotalids the most but I'm a viper kind of guy. I have dabbled with naja, tiapans, mambas and such, but just too flightly for me. I am a fan of a select few and may even get some were I to cross any at a show or something.

As FWK stated, it is a copperhead.
Haven't read that paper though.

Absolutely beautiful snakes! Personally I love anything that rattles (on snakes and beds )but i'd never have the guts to keep a hot :P

Re: Just a few new critters I've aquired.

It's not for everyone but it's really not that bad.

I guess it depends on your focus when it comes to keeping reptiles. Personally I don't consider them a holding animal so I don't really have that lure of wanting to hold them. I consider them more like fish, which is why I keep most in natural enclosures instead of on newspaper in a bin. Awesome to watch.
