Unhappy re: woohoo...

ok....well i found out why my little ( not even 1 year old) boy was blowing spit bubbles.....worms and about 3 different bacteria that was causing one serious tummy ache.......dont worry the vet man fixed it ( dr. goldsmith in miami,fl)

however, now my girl has what appears to be blood trapped in her belly scales......the only thing i can think of is that she got under her blankie and made direct contact with her under the tank heater when it got kind of chilly the other day.............any suggestions anyone?i really dont need another vet bill just at this moment.

Glad to hear that you got your snake on the road to recovery. As for the blisters. That could be caused by a humidity problem or burns (I think). How hot does the enclosure get? You should know the temperature of the warmest spot the snake can get to. Are you using a blanket as a substrate? If you are...it may be harboring bacteria like crazy. I suggest getting rid of the blanket and using paper towels or newspaper. At least until you get all the health problems under control. This way you can keep the enclosure as clean as possible.

Again...you really need to know the temp on top of the UTH. You should have some control device hooked up to the UTH so you can control the temp of the UTH.

What's your set up like?

Keep us updated to your littel guy's condition.

set up for both snakes is as follows water dish on cold side stick in middle....either paper towels ( the viva ones...theyre soft) or newspaper....and i found plastic easy to clean black buckets that i have put entrances in.....Ka the 2 year old loves her bucket! Osiris isnt so sure about his but im sure he will like it when he gets bigger...i live in miami, very seldom do i need any type of heat source ...usually in the summer i turn em off cause it gets too hot.......

My bp once had blood on her belly scales too and I was obviously concerned. I found out what it was the next feeding day though. She was hitting her mouse so hard that it was bleeding a bit from the mouth and nose and then getting the blood on herself. It really shows up on those white belly scales! Could this be what happened to your snake?
