Burm Prices

I have my eye on this beutiful normal male burmese python at my local pet shop . He is very young but not tame at all , I handled him once but I had to wear gloves and he was not a happy snake , but to they keep all the feeders right below the snakes so he was most likely a little excited too . They want $299 dollars for him which I think is a little much, what would a reasonalble price be for a snake like that . I know the owner so I would be able to talk them down but I don't know how much . But too it would be a lot of work taming the snake , although he is still vry young , is it worth it or should I look somewhere else for one , any help would be great .

If the snake is just a normal (even if it is a het for albino) you should only pay approx $100 to at the VERY most 170 and the $170 is more of a "pet shop" price. And also it is not hard to tame them when there young. Keep picking him up with a hook or gloves. after a week or more he should calm down. Also yes he can most likely smell his food if it is kept right below him, he is probally thinking that each time that he is handled, he is going to get fed. Good luck.

Thank you , I will go there tomorrow and ask if they will lower the price . I really like the snake even with his nasty temperment but I always like a challenge . He is such a beutiful snake execpt for a imperfection on his head which looks like a small burn to me , but I am not 100% sure . I will defenatly go back tomorrow and see him . seems like a high price to me, i only paid 80 for my burm when i got him and he was just under 3ft at the time....same store i got him from charge 200 for albino burms

At the pet shop i go to the normal burms are $60 Us dollars. At that same store I got my albino for $175 Us dollars

i only paid 150 for my albino burm, try and talk him down that is way to much

They will not lower the price on him at all , which is to bad . I did how ever find a male albino burm from henry piorun for sale that is $225 canadian , I think that that is reasonable for a albino , what do you think . Also have any of you dealt with Henry Piorun before and if so what are his snakes like if that is okay to ask. Thank you .

The pet store where I get my mice and rats from have a normal baby captive bred burm for $70.00 and an albino captive bred for $199.00. The little chick at the pet store said they're both sweethearts, but they treat their snakes really well. I think it's WAY too much. Also, I haven't seen a burm with bad disposition, so it could probably be tamed if you were so inclined.

I think that more people should charge $299 for their burms it might deter those who don't fully understand what they are getting into when others sell for the same price as normal corns.

299 is a insane price for a normal burm. I got my retic (which are usualy higher then normal burms) for 70 dollars Getting a juvinile burm shipped to you off the internet would be les then half that of your pet store burm. Id suggest that.

Hi,

Not to be rude, but personally I would suggest keeping something other than a Burmese Python. I have no idea what your experience and capabilities are, but just in case.....

Burmese Pythons get HUGE, the biggest I've worked with was a shade over 18 feet long, and had a massive girth. We would feed it 3 or 4 whole chickens at a time. The enclosure it lived in was built into the foundation of the facility, and measured something like 12 feet by 12 feet by 4 feet high, not including the pool.

It was "tame" as many adults are, but always had the potential to be lethal. The rule of thumb when I was working with large constrictors was anything over 10 feet and you had to work with a partner. I've heard it said that on a very aggressive feeding schedule that Burmese Pythons can grow that large in 1 year. I've also heard that is not very healthy to do this to the snake.

Too many large constrictors end up in reptile rescues, and since the only one I know of around here is Rainforest Reptile Rescue, why take the chance? Adult Burmese, like adult Green Iguanas are almost impossible to give away, let alone sell. Unless they are the newest genetic morph.

As far as Henry goes, I don't personally know him, but I've heard nothing but good things about him and his animals. I believe he produces some very nice smaller constictors, such as Spotted and Childrens Pythons. If he doesn't have any available there are several other breeders around town. Speaking of which, what pet store did you see this Burmese at?

Again I hope I've not over-stepped my boundries here, as I don't know you or your experiences. If you don't have any experience with large snakes yet I would strongly suggest something that will max. out at less than 10 feet long, and there are many such Pythons and Boas.

I've seen tame albinos at the swap for 170. don't get ripped off!!!!

Thanks everyone that has posted a reply , you have really helped out. I just hope that who ever does buy the snake knows what they are in for and not someone who just buys it to look cool .Anyways , I will see what Henry has hopefully and if I don't find one I truly love I will probably just get a nice little Boa Constrictor instead . So once again thank you .

I have bought snakes from Henry P. both at shows in Calgary, and have had snakes shipped from B.C to Calgary International Airport.
