Question ATB Questions

I've had my ATB for five months now. I got him when he was eight weeks old. I handle him alot and he is tame, sometimes he'll just chill in my lap or on the arm of my desk chair, he'll even check my dogs out and not strike at them. I here this is rare and that ATB's are notorious for a constant bad mood. Will his disposition change as he gets older, or did I luck out and get lucky? Also he has shed twice with alittle difficulty. I soaked him and it went like a charm the first time. I've been keeping a close eye on humidity levels, however there is a piece of unshed skin on the tip of his tail existing from the recent shed. Ive tried pulling it of but my sweet guy definately doesnt like it, what should I do? I'm sorry this was so drawn out it's just I really love this guy so any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I don't think your Ammie will change over time......usually once a snake is tame he will stay that way, even an TB. Mine is as tame as my ball python. All it takes is patience and the willingness to take a few nips in the beginning.

As for the humidity, what kind of cage do you have him in? I was keeping my ATB in a glass aquarium and he had a HORRIBLE time shedding so I moved him to a rubbermaid and he has had nothing but perfect sheds. I would also try to get that piece off his tail ASAP because it can restrict blood flow in the tail and it may cause necrosis. Just put the tail in some warm water and use a q-tip and try to rub it off or gently massage it off like you would rolling a sock off your foot.

a humid hide would help, and Bear is right about the tail tip, it will die and fall of if you don't keep the sheds of it.
