ball python morphs and such

Hey folks been doing alot of research here lately especially in to ball pythons in the near future id like to set up a small breeding project to produce some new morphs (spider+lesser=bumblebee) im basically asking what would you recommend to start out with and if you could change how you started what would it be also any recommendations to help with my research
id like to stray away from the food for thought comments like do you have enough funds for a breeding project, what if your snake/s get sick im well aware of all of these things since ive been doing research for weeks now
As always thanks for the help

Where are you currently doing your research and what specifically are you researching?

What are your goals in breeding? How many animals do you want? Any specific genes you like?

I can go on and on making recommendations but without knowing what you want it's hard to make good recommendations.

Also, sorry to burst your bubble but spider+lesser= Lesserbee. A bumblebee is spider+pastel.

You can find me on facebook much more frequent than here if you'd like to know more. FB page is in my signature.

Things to keep in mind for breeding:

Do you have the space for proper quarantine? This doesn't mean just another room, but a totally different air-space(second building). Quarantine is super important when you bring in new reptiles. A year is a safe time-frame, as snakes hide illnesses like no other.

VETTING:

Exotic vets are expensive, but necessary to keep your breeders healthy. Every time you bring in new animal, you need to send them in immediately for an exam-- and be ready to have an emergency fund if something comes up.

What has been addressed is good pointers to start with.

Ill just add, when looking to start a project, or even to breed, I would say go with what morphs you like the best and start working with them. (i.e, i love pastels, so im starting up with bunch of pastel combos, then moving on to some het stuff, and just keep going up)

start with the "basics" and work your way to "higher end" morphs works too i suppose.

gl!

Re: ball python morphs and such

Most of my research at the moment is going in to morphs basically what makes what also you are correct as far as a spider and pastel makes a bumblebee I was talking with someone as I was writing this up and must've been saying lesser at the time lol as far as my goals for breeding as of right now id just like to experience what its like to breed snakes, starting off ill probably keep my numbers on a lower end id say no more than 10 snakes, genes I like id say are pretty basic spiders lessers pied pastel Mojave fires and supers there are still so many morphs that I have yet to be introduced to

Yes I do have an area to quarantine new snakes actually my other house to be exact and a friend of mine actually works at a vet office its very convenient for me because he can perform checkups for me free of charge so thats always good

Haha yea its not a fun experience, the first and last live mouse my Burm ever got gave her mites since then ive always fed my snakes frozen/thawed which isnt a bad thing its cheaper and more humane. Luckily all my snakes will take frozen
