Last O. p. coxi clutch of the season!

I forgot to share the last coxi clutch of the season. They hatched a bit over 3 weeks ago.

Thai Bamboo ratsnake baby pile!
Four out of five of Serenity's second clutch of the season out. Got some interesting stripes on a few of these.

I love the look of these snakes. Always tempted to get one.

I will probably end up with one in the future. They are just so striking!

Do they have effects from the limited genetic pool? Heared there are problems?

Re: Last O. p. coxi clutch of the season!

Most of mine seem very hardy. However, I did have a yearling female drop dead this year for no apparent cause, perfect husbandry, ate 5 days earlier and seemed perfectly healthy and then just dead. Someone else I know had the very same thing happen to a yearling female this year too. Whether that's a complication of a limited gene pool or just one of those things that happen working with living animals subject to mortality, I don't know.

I haven't heard of many problems with them and none that the other breeders' I talked to are attributing to inbreeding.

I made sure that my male and female(s) are as unrelated as possible since I planned to breed them and that's just a good idea but not because I'd heard that was a particular problem. My two adult females are clutch siblings to each other though.

Thanks! Yeah, there are only a few on here that do. I pretty much didn't visit in August, was disappointed to have missed the photo contest voting, that was an excellent picture you submitted! Only saw it today.

in germany breeders report that they face some problems recently with them. Its an awesome species so they became popular but recently breeders her actually have too guarantee their customers that their snakes arent affected yet.

Good too know yours seem to be not effected yet. wonderful clutch
