Re: 12 year update

Sorry for your loss. I also recently posted about the passing of my long time pet Rudy. Even though they may not have the interactive traits typical of dogs and the like, they still become fixtures...

RIP Rudy (~1981-2021)

It is with great sadness that I report that Rudy, my ~40 year old Dominican Boa, passed away this past Tuesday (11/2/21) from a lymphoma that she came down with a few months ago. I have posted older...

Rudy’s 37th w/me (probably 38th birthday)

Rudy hit 37 years with me this past Thursday (Dec 12th). I estimate she was about a year old when I got her so she’s probably about 38. Earlier this year she had surgery to remove some oviduct...

Rudy’s Surgery

It’s been about one month since Rudy had surgery to address a cystic type pathology in her oviduct. It had produced a very noticeable bulge that had me and the vet worried about tumors, etc. Despite...

Re: Rudy’s Teeth Are Sharper Than I Imagined

Just noticed this reply. Having never had Rudy definitively sexed, it was a bit of a surprise after all these years that a recent medical issue lead to the discovery that he is actually SHE. It...

Rudy’s Teeth Are Sharper Than I Imagined

Today I foolishly insisted on doing a water change despite it being dark and Rudy being out and about prowling his enclosure. As often happens, he checked out my hand. But instead of tongue...

Re: Research on Cuban Boa Feeding Behavior

Yes, it was. Would you know how to get that to show on here?

I saw you have like 22 DRM Boas. How are those guys/girls doing?

Re: Rudy 2018 pics (~36 yrs young)

Hey, been very busy so haven’t been on for a couple weeks. He generally eats a medium rat every 2-3 weeks. Occasionally due to availability, he might get 2 smalls or even a large (and then go 3-4...

Rudy 2018 pics (~36 yrs young)

I snapped a few phone pics of my boy Rudy during a couple of water changes so I figured I’d throw em up here.

Stumbled across this today:

Kind of cool/interesting.

Re: Rudy Update (Epicrates Striatus - born early 1982)

Got him from a Petland in New Rochelle December 1982. He was somewhere around 20 inches long and took awhile to get established eating. But yeah, he's been with me basically the whole time.

Oops. I missed that. And those other items you mentioned were infuriating as well.

Re: Unfortunate Story

Yeah, that too. Rudy hasn't bitten me in 35 years, and I still don't just grab him and hold by my face. I'll play tree branch and sometimes he climbs over the top of my head and might tongue flick...

Unfortunate Story

Did anyone see this story a couple days ago (link below)? This was totally unnecessary. While I can understand being a bit freaked out having a boa attached to your face and head, this woman still...

Re: Rudy Update (Epicrates Striatus - born early 1982)

Not sure. Does anyone else know? I'm thinking all these Caribbean Island boa species are closely related. Without even looking at genes, you can see how their body types and appearances are so...

Rudy Update (Epicrates Striatus - born early 1982)

After just seeing Danny's great looking Cuban Boa pictures, I was inspired to post these very average pictures (cell phone, indoors on a cloudy day) of Rudy. A little remaining shed in the one...

Re: Are keepers underfeeding their snakes?

In retrospect, I fed my Haitian/Dominican Boa mice for too long in his youth. Eventually he went to 2 mice every 10-14 days. He also refused to eat anything for over a year around the age of 4.5...

Re: Caiman got ups.

Hope you and your caiman are doing well. Just perusing the threads and got curious about he's coming along the past few months. I ant have one, so I have to live vicariously... Lol.

How long did you stay there watching him? Did he ever move on while you had him in view?

Re: Seriously gross. What's causing this? (Graphic picture)

Yeah that's never happened to me. My guess would be they weren't handled properly before getting to you.
