Re: Help with enclosure issue - croc skink

I've been in the same situation as you recently and got some help from people on here (including chairman!) and did a lot of research on my own. One thing I would add is how long are you misting? ...

You can hopefully see Trico basking under the light and also the condensation on the glass. We really need to be alike to post larger photo files on here lol.

Re: Heat source for crested gecko?

Wow really? That seems like a good solution, if I still have issues going forward with humidity. The half glassed off screen top is making a difference. This morning after a watering and misting...

Re: Heat source for crested gecko?

Thanks for your help! I do as of recently have half of the screen top covered with glass. I didn’t realize home improvement stores would cut custom sizes though. That is good to know! Will prob...

Re: Heat source for crested gecko?

I currently use a 13w exo terra natural light. Should I just up that to a 26w and return the moonlight bulb? Would that increase the temp enough over the 13w alone??

Re: Heat source for crested gecko?

Outside Trico’s vivarium is usually low to mid 60s this time of year for winter. So if it drops to 62-64 at night, are you saying that would be better for him than a basking spot of mid 70s and prob...

Re: Heat source for crested gecko?

Only during the day? So you don’t think low to mid 60s is bad during the night?

I have been running the moonlight bulb 24hrs a day for the last couple days. It has given me 74 in the upper back...

Re: Heat source for crested gecko?

Update: temp in the corner where bulb is went up from 67 (after misting)-73. The thermometer is right up in the same corner.

Also the bulb is much more of a light purple than blue. Now I’m...

Heat source for crested gecko?

Hi there. I’ve been trying to get ideal conditions for my crested gecko. His name is Trico and he is 7. I was initially under the impression that they should be kept at room temperature and around...

Re: Crestie Shed Issues Normal?

Thanks. I am going to add a small repti rock dish and have started doing a few things to lead to more consistent humidity and slightly warmer temps. I actually use magnolia leaves too, and have...

Re: Hey, it's been a while! Here's updates on my big vivarium and its inhabitant

Oh wow. That’s pretty quick of him to trust and want to seek you out like that, even for food! I’ve had trico for 7yrs and it wasn’t until a few years ago that he really would come to me. Though I...

Re: Hey, it's been a while! Here's updates on my big vivarium and its inhabitant

Lol yeah Trico is a bit like that as in my experience are most reptiles! He is clumsy for sure and makes some questionable decisions with his acrobatics. How long have you had Merlin?

Re: Crestie Shed Issues Normal?

One more thing. The reason I have been hesitant to increase humidity is that he sneezes some when I have the humidity higher. Does that indicate something other than it being too humid?

I'm...

Re: Hey, it's been a while! Here's updates on my big vivarium and its inhabitant

Very cool! Awesome set up. Also you’re right reptiles are smart, some are smarter than dogs. They are definitely food motivated as well, so that makes for a trainable animal! My crestie Treeco,...

Re: Crestie Shed Issues Normal?

Ok see I wouldn’t think it would be too dry, because aren’t they supposed to be between 65% and 85% humidity? I mean the room outside the enclosure is typically about 60% and the inside of the...

Crestie Shed Issues Normal?

My little buddy Treeco, a 7 year old Crested Gecko has always been a healthy guy. He doesn't eat a whole lot, but he does eat consistently (Pangea Complete w/Insects). Though only hand fed at this...

I'm in the same boat... My gecko just turned 2, 3 months ago. He/she has definitely grown some, but not as much as I expected. I am planning on doing a new vivarium for him/her in the coming month....

Re: Crested gecko help

I know this thread is almost a month old, but...You will not notice that he has eaten his crested gecko diet until you see poop. It is that simple.

*Poop=he's eating*

How is he/she?
