egg problem please help fast

Ok I had something strange happen to one of my eggs. Yesterday I saw that it collapsed. So I tried to candle the egg and saw some movement inside the egg. Thinking that it would hatch within the next few hours I left it alone. Today the was still collapsed and no hatchling so I tried to slit the egg myself and saw a little hatchling but no movement.

I wanted to know if there is any chance that it will still hatch if the egg has a small slit in it. Today is day 53 of incubation. It's really strange because this is the first time this has happened to me. Usually they hatch 24 hours after they collapse.

Well, I'm no expert, by any means, but I guess it's possible the egg could still hatch. I'd hold on to it to see if it hatches or dies, either way, it's a waiting game... sorry I couldn't be more help! =)

I had the same thing happen to me this year with two leopard eggs. Unfortunately I waited too long and they both drowned in the eggs. They were fully developed and the eyes had been opened. I hope your luck is better than mine was.

Bad idea imo to slit the egg, there sometimes are a few stragglers who don't like to get away from there shell or don't even seem to want to hatch, theres nobody to slit the egg in nature

This is the first time that this has happened to me. The always hatch within a day after the egg collapses.

So is there still a chance that the gecko will hatch?
