Re: What’s everyone’s worst impulse buy

Hmmmm sort of impulse buy was my Kenyan Sand boa, but I have experience with them in the past and I was looking for a certain morph. I went to the expo last year just going to get feeders for my...

Re: walking with snake on you

I'm confused, do you live in a high-rise building or a village?

Annnnyway. I live in an apartment with no back yard and two nocturnal snakes, so sunlight usually just stresses them out. They...

Re: Separate Feeding Container v. Feeding in Enclosure?

I feed in tank and they know when it's feeding time and when it isn't. Besides breeders aren't going to take out 100 plus animals to feed in paper bags. Nor would someone with a giant snake either.

Re: Childrens Python

I got to hold the little guy yesterday and he was pretty chill and not defensive. And oh so cute. He did better than the first time I held my house snake. Not even nervous, just checking...

Re: Childrens Python

I honestly could see this guy is a little stressed with being in an open tank. Also the employee told me he's not always like that.
What size enclosure do you put yours in?

Re: Species suggestion

I own two small snakes that would fit in that 2x2. The Kenyan sand boa (that someone already mentioned) and a male Cape House Snake. Great little snake btw.

Childrens Python

What can you tell me about them? I know basics, but I'd love to hear personal experience.

My local store has a baby childrens Python that is adorable and tiny and oh so angry haha. He tagged the...

Re: New Cape House Snake, Early RI?

I have a Cape House snake that was doing a little bit of what you mentioned. And I'm a little late to this party but I also bumped up the temps. Haven't heard any odd noises since.

Re: I don't know what happened. She last away.

Sorry to hear about your boa. Honestly doesn't sound like anything you did. I had something similar happen with my hognose (also a case of never working with that breeder again).

Re: Hello! 😁

Welcome! And Russian Rat is a good choice. I so want one myself. When I have the room and I know I can keep them cool enough in the summer. Gets way too hot around here.

Re: Hello All

Yeah I find they are good feeders for the most part. Pretty easy keepers. My guy wanted to eat right away. Also that behavior is usual of them looking for food. I find they get active when the lights...

Oh my family is crazy and I'm the only one with snakes... hmmm maybe that's their problem haha. I generally don't talk about my snakes with them. My mom was weird about my sand boa when I did live...

Also check out FB groups for either. They might also point you in the direction of someone that has one.

Re: What About A Hognose?

Yeah if he's scared of snakes the hognose's attitude might not help make a nervous person not nervous. I had one for a little bit and the little guy would hiss and mock strike if I just looked at...

Re: PVC/plastic cages

Thank you kukzu! That's actually a really good idea. I have my gecko setup in an old fish tank with a screen lid clipped on. Supports the cats weight great but I could easily see a snake pushing...

Re: How often to feed a Kenyan Sand Boa?

Thank you CK. I think he's getting really close to taking fuzzies. My store's fuzzies tend to run on the bigger side.

Re: PVC/plastic cages

Wow thanks guys! That's a lot of great info. Ok so looks like the rhp is the way to go.
It is a male cape house snake so not a big snake and I wish I could use the exo terra cages but that's just a...

Bare with me if this post doesn't make sense. I didn't sleep all that well and it caught up with me.

So originally I was going to get one of those vivs with the sliding screen tops for Thor, my...

Re: What's your favourite snake family?

Ok so when I first replied back in March I didn't have much experience outside sand boas. But now that I've had my Cape House Snake a good almost 9 months, I'm leaning towards Colubridae. I have to...

Re: How often to feed a Kenyan Sand Boa?

OP I hope you don't mind me asking a feeding question.

To anyone - When have you found that they can be moved up in feeder size? Moving up to fuzzies. I hear a lot of people talk about feeding...

Re: How often to feed a Kenyan Sand Boa?

I've had this question too cause I get so many different answers from FB groups (-_-) Oy... anyway, they were saying every 5 days for a baby which seems insane to me. Yeah I get feeding colubrids...
