Lace Monitors in the US?

Over the past year I've been doing research on this species but I cant seem to find any breeders (or european importers) in the US apart from Saurian Farms. Does anyone know what happened to Frank Retes stock in Arizona (I'm gonna assume his died out) or Greg's pair of bells phase? While were on the topic of Australian monitors does anyone know how Frank got his perentie, from what I've read he has/had a female but the male was seized by the feds? Thanks, Richard

Re: Lace Monitors in the US?

Note: I'm not anywhere near being able to own a larger monitor at the moment, however once I have finished college and have a steady job/economic security then I plan on looking into Australian monitors. Its interesting that fr was able to aquire so many rare species despite being so unpopular in the varanid community, it seems that breeders of these rare species pick and choose who the sell too so unless I'm missing something, is there an import loop hole or do you just need money? The whole situation confuses me

Import loophole is called "smuggling". Don't believe half the people who say they got their stuff "legally".

As for tracking them down, sorry dude I have no clue as I'm not in the States or look for Aussie monitors. Hopefully you can find them!

Re: Lace Monitors in the US?

Thanks guys, @Aaron_s thats what I was thinking about the "loophole" @KrokadilyanGuy3 aren't sulfur monitors a locality of water monitors? I've never looked into those but they sure are pretty, in a way they remind me of bells phase lace.

And to anyone else wondering Saurian Farms based out of Austin Texas has a pair of lace monitors and several other species including spencers, they don't seem to be breeding though. I'm going to try to get in contact with them and ill eventually post an update
