New(ish) Snake

I've taken a hiatus from most of my online activity. I've had a lot going on in my personal life, and a few animals die over the past few years (including my bairds Al Capone back in July, if anyone...

Re: Took the snake out in the yard

About six feet. It was as high as I could reach, but he wasn't moving fast enough to where I was concerned.

Took the snake out in the yard

Was 60° in January, and figuring I won't get better than that for a while took my bairds outside. Thought to reintroduce you guys to him.

I wouldn't recommend fish either. Mammals, birds, and other reptiles comprise the majority of their diet.

Helping Me Rake

It was a nice 25° today, so I took him out in the garden. Really enjoyed the leaf litter.

Re: Uva/uvb light for BRB?

I'd generally recommend it so long as it's done correct. Now, supplements are not at all necessary or even beneficial so long as you're feeding whole prey. UVB has it's benefits, but isn't necessary...

Re: Ricky is turning into quite the looker

Oh sweet. Only a year older than my boy then. They're looking good, but when's Ricky going to get a bachelor's pad that's comparable to Lucy's ?

You never post enough of Ricky! Thinking my boy's going to end up looking a lot like him. How old is he now?

Re: how many times do you need to clean your terraria per month

Depends on the species and the individual. My sand boas get cleaned out fully once every two months. The rat snake gets cleaned out once every two weeks usually. I spot clean in between and really...

Re: how can i see if my snake is readying for a attack

My rat snake does that whenever anyone but me opens the enclosure. I'm out of town right now but my step dad's taking care of the snakes. First couple of times he opened the cage to change the water...

My rat snake got loose once last year. Simply left it unlocked and all he needed was a few hours before he was gone. I have all my snakes in a sealed room they can't get out of so I knew he was...

I've used dog carriers in the past for my water dragons when I had them. Placed a towel on the bottom to collect feces and give them something to hold onto. I don't know if you'd be able to do this...

Re: Are keepers underfeeding their snakes?

This is a subject I'm very interested in following. I've read through different thoughts and opinions backwards and forwards, and tend to stick to a more conservative diet for a few reasons.

I've...

Ah. Thanks lol.

I wasn't worried because it was a loose substrate. Just because it's activated by water and I didn't know how they'd be able to handle it. For some reason I was under the...
