They will fade with age about 9 times out of 10. I happen to have a Male that is 2 years old and shows quite a bit if markings still to the point people question if he is even an MBK, which, he is....

On it's side would be good for anything from a corn or king snake to a ball python. But would be too small for a boa. Most enclosures have a depth of 2 feet. So it may be a bit slender for some...
