Hands on taming is a big no no for me... Evey varanid I've held that's been brought up that way it's heartbeat is going ten to the dozen.

Keep at it'll come round I suspect it's initial reaction...

precisely why monitor keepers in general dont use them that and CHEs are quite frankly dangerous if your stat fails... they overheat extremely extremely quickly

That is an important point when placing UV tubes or indeed any tube in a viv always above not directly in line with there eyes that would damage them.

Varanids can survive long periods of time in sub-standard condtions ive know of savs live to be 10 when kept on newspaper however that does not mean it is right nor is it proof of health.

They will have multiple entrances to there burrows think rabbits acces and egress from multiple points...

generally it gets to hot for them to be active midday...
