Re: refuses food for the 5th month

For what it's worth I've got 5 snakes and my Ball python is the only one that will not eat them.

Absolutely hates them, and I think it's because of the lack of musky odor that regular rats have.

Re: Battery back up

I use deep cycle batteries and an inverter for power outages. You can use computer UPS's but they usually don't have much run time unless you get an expensive one. It's expensive either way though....

Splendida x calligaster?

Has anyone ever encountered a Speckled Kingsnake x Prairie Kingsnake intergrade while herping?

Is that even possible since calligaster is not part of getula? We have both in Oklahoma. Their...

Re: My Dekayi

Get nightcrawlers or baby nightcrawlers if they have them from Walmart. If they're too big cut them into 1/4's.

Re: Herping in your own backyard?!

That's cool. I find Lined Snakes, Tropidoclonion lineatum, in my backyard all the time. It's awesome how well they do in suburban environments. Apparently Storeria are pretty popular in Europe,...

Re: What to do when your snake dies.

When my snakes die they will be preserved as wet specimens or otherwise. I've got a couple from DOR's already and it's not hard to do. It seems like the logical thing to do when it comes to being...

Cool finds!! You don't see that stuff everyday. What a great job to have for herping!

Re: 2016 Herping Pictures

These are more pictures from spring this year.

This is a horrible picture but it was my lifer Rough Greensnake. Our group ended up finding 46 of them that night; we had a blast.

From what I've heard pretty much all of their animals are wild caught.

Re: Vibrations and reptiles?

I play drums in the same room as two of my snakes. My coachwhip will come out and watch me while I'm playing. Same with loud guitar so I don't think it's a big deal.

Re: How long before we can get one? ;)

Well since they say it might be endangered, I'm sure poachers will go and collect them all and we'll never see them. Or we will. Who knows?....

Re: My First Ball Python!

Wow, that's terrible that they did that. Whether you keep the snake or not, I would definitely retaliate. "Eye for an eye" At least get your money back.

Re: My First Ball Python!

My ball didn't have a hard time switching to rats, although she has become a picky eater since. She goes on food strike sometimes but never loses weight. Your mileage may vary.

Re: Is my king injured?

My kingsnakes have never had that happen. But my ball python has had that dented look in the eyes a couple times. I would give her a soak and make sure her eyes get wet too. If that doesn't work...

Re: Snakes keep dying

If you never fed them anything but pinky mice I'm sure they all starved to death. I bet they don't even recognize that as food since that's so small. The meal needs to be about the size of the...
