Thank you both. Over all the years I have kept reptiles, I think I have enjoyed box turtles the most. They have been the one constant in my collection for a reason!

That's a good point. There was no FB in 2003! And the slowdown correlated with when FB became a thing. That's sad, back in the day I loved it here and prefer it to FB groups.

I agree. But this forum slowed down probably about 11 or 12 years ago. It hasn't picked up in all that time. from 03 to about 08 it was super active.

Ceramic heat does not dry out the air like incandescent do so that makes sense. And your humidity was higher with it on because water plus heat creates humidity. I keep chelonians in my basement...

I don't use tiles for geckos myself but many people do. The ones that do choose textured ones. I don't see how they'd be more unhygienic than anything else.

You do in fact need a bigger tank for an adult. If this is a baby it will work for a few months. Yes, you need a heat lamp to provide a basking spot of 95 to 100. Cool end ideally around 75. ...
