Re: AP Cages

AP Cages are good quality and worth the price but prepare to wait months for your order. If you can manage the wait, they are a good choice.

My experience with kingsnakes is limited to one, my...

Re: First aid for head rubbing

Gee, poison, I don't know what you're talking about. It only took 8 months to get my AP Cage. ;) It is a good quality cage with excellent assembly instructions. I knew when I ordered it that it...

Re: What is a good source of viv build materials?

Am interested in seeing the answer to that question as I don't know it. To me, they seem to use cellular PVC, foam PVC and expanded PVC interchangeably.

Re: What is a good source of viv build materials?

For my situation, PVC has been the way to go. It just offers so many advantages in terms of maintaining proper temps/humidity, but also security. (Darn cats!) It is pretty easy to work with, even for...

Re: Mites?

Ooooh. I had no idea. My springtails are so very light in color they're almost see through. Didn't realize they could be dark.

Re: Looking for captive bred DeKay’s brown snakes!

David, what varieties of worms can the little ones eat? Would something like black soldier fly larvae work?

Re: Mites?

Those aren't mites. Am not sure what they are but definitely not mites. It would still be good to know what those really are.

Re: Help! E. Black Rat Urgent Care!

Bubonic! Cool name. To a rat he would certainly be black death. And a plague name in the middle of a pandemic seems appropriate, though I pray that part doesn't last.

As long as you can maintain...

Re: Extremely defensive zebra carpet, advice?

The difference in my reptiles responses to me changed a lot when they went from top entry containers to front entry. You might consider converting your 10 gal tank to front entry. This can be DIY or...

Re: Question on heating a tall enclosure

The RHP is for Winter. The temps in the room vary from low 60's in Winter to low 80's in Summer, so approximately 16-27 C. In Summer and at times in late Spring and early Fall a heat light would...

Thank you, Roman. I appreciate the information you have added to the lighting discussions.

We are in Southeastern USA. My concern with a halide light is generating too much heat in Summer. My...

Question on heating a tall enclosure

Have just ordered a new enclosure for my growing Russian rat snake. It's a 48"x24"x48" AP cage. It will have a RHP and the basking shelf but now I'm wondering if I should ask to have the belly heat...

Re: Best enclosure for boa.

Not surprised. Just placed an order for a 4'x2'x4'. Their estimate was 3-5 mos. The email emphasized it was just an estimate and might change.

Re: Probe placement

For my snakes, I put the probe a couple inches below the heat source. This was a level my snakes could climb up to for basking and had hides directly below. The hides had thermal mass so the snakes...

Re: What snake between these two do you guys recommend?

Both are good but I would recommend a corn snake. On average, corns are easier to handle both from the beginning and in the long run. They are usually just more laid back snakes than kingsnakes....
