Re: Bitten by my coastal, local numbness

I wouldn't stress too much about the snake leaving any teeth behind. If it had you probably would've noticed especially if it's a 6.5 ft snake. And if it did their teeth normally grow back ;)

Re: Thinking of adding another snake

I'm not very familiar with the behavior or husbandry of blood pythons but most jungles will be snappy throughout all stages of their lives (with a few exceptions). That being said, a jungle python...

Re: Soon to be snake dad

Welcome to the snake keeping game mate!
Haha, when I first got into the hobby that's when I learned how many snakes that I thought I could were illegal in Oz. Regardless I think it's agreeable that...

Re: Caring for an Antaresia python

When I first got into snakes I went crazy with arranging the enclosures with branches and rocks and stuff. Nowadays most of my enclosures are pretty simple but it's always a good idea to try...

Re: Caring for an Antaresia python

Lot's of great info above, but I'll just throw in my 2 cents worth.

When it comes to care it terms of cleaning; spot clean once a week (removing faeces etc), full clean once a month (remove...

Re: Snake husbandry question

They might like to "burrow and stay there" in the wild. But he is in captivity and in your care. I don't think anyone has the right to criticize you for taking your snake from it's cage. Especially...

Re: Snake husbandry question

That choice is completely up to you :)
Either way your snake prefers to be left alone. He would much rather stay in his cage where he feels safe and secure. Handling is only for your entertainment...

Re: How to heat a wooden enclosure

If using a heat mat for a wooden enclosure I put the mat inside the enclosure and sandwich it between two tiles. It sit's on top of one tile so it doesn't burn the wood, and then another tile goes on...

Re: What's your experience with Emerald Tree Boas and/or Green Tree Pythons

I agree. GTP's are certainly not a super hand-able snake and I would never recommend one if you're a beginner. They also require a high humidity to be maintained and, like Aaron said, are more of a...

Re: Changing enclosures while in blue phase

I would do it. I handle and feed my snakes while they're in shed all the time. But if you want to be be on the safe side, it might be a good idea to wait just to save him the stress. Up to you :)

Re: Effects of Not Eating

As long as she's eating fine now I don't see any life long effects apart from the fact that she's a bit small for her age. Just feed her up (weekly at this age) make sure her temps are correct and...

Re: Enclosure Size

As long as the length of the tub isn't too far from half the length of the snake and only half of the floor is heated then it should OK to have two levels.
I don't know a ton about ball pythons and...

Re: Enclosure Size

Enclosure length should be half the size of the snake.
As a general rule of the floor space is you go one square foot for every foot of snake.
Example: an 8 foot black headed python gets an...

Re: Can snakes breathe underwater?

There's an old saying that goes"if the snake bites you, it's venomous, if you bite the snake, it's poisonous". Of coarse this isn't entirely true as you can drink snake venom without having any...

Re: Can snakes breathe underwater?

1. There is no such thing as a poisonous snake. Snakes are venomous. Poison must be inhaled or drank, whereas venom is injected.
2. All snakes, terrestrial, arboreal or aquatic, all breath air. They...
