Re: Teddy updates and pics

So it's been a year. He's a lot bigger now. I made the container the same size in both pictures so you can see the growth.

He's 547g as of the last weigh and 2 years old. I can't believe he was...

Re: Weird behavior???

Both my snakes do this too. I think to them it just looks like a small space they can squeeze into and they somehow think they can hide on the other side of it?

They also are both head shy, so if...

Re: Teddy updates and pics

Ok. I'll probably give him a mix of small and weaned then. Thanks for the tip. :)

Re: Teddy updates and pics

Thanks everyone. :)

The small rats are a little under 70g when I pick out the small ones. I just fed him his first one last week since the weaned rats are now barely 1x his girth and he hasn't...

Re: Teddy updates and pics

So it's been a while. I've being lurking around the forum all this time, but just don't really have anything interesting to say. Here's an update on Teddy though.

He's living in his big boy home...

Re: Where do you get large branches?

Guess I'll try digging around in the forests nearby. If you buy branches online they're crazy expensive.

Where do you get large branches?

I'm looking for some for a 4x2x2 ft. cage. Where did you get yours and how much did it cost? I keep seeing people with nice big perches, and I haven't been able to find anything like that. Also, how...

Re: Rubbing on mesh?

Nothing has really changed. The ambient temperature in the room has been in the low 70s and her warm side is 85. The humidity has been low this winter, but I've been spraying some sphag in her hide...

Re: Rubbing on mesh?

It could also be the branches I put in there that are abrasive. Her nose is fine. The back of her neck kind of looks like she scooted backwards along something.

Rubbing on mesh?

I'm not completely sure that this is what's happening, but she's been a lot more active since the last cage clean about a month ago. She used to spend almost all her time hiding, but now she's...

Re: NARBC 18-19 March 17

Haha, I wish. Unfortunately, his rule extends to other animals too. He tried to tell me starting a bioactive viv would count as "getting more animals" because I'd adopt thousands of isopods. If I...

Re: NARBC 18-19 March 17

I'm most likely going to this. It's about 3 hours away from me and I still feel bad about missing the fall show. :/ Boyfriend has said no to more snakes, so I will mostly just be fawning over animals...

Re: Doing Snake Presentation at School

I know this probably isn't quite middle school material, but I think the science behind snake phobias is pretty interesting. If you want to read about it, there's this article...

Re: Looking for feedback.

I think it really depends on the snake. Some don't seem to care and will be fine with handling or eating while blue.

Re: A question about Corn snakes & their homes

I've been buying two cages for my snakes: one for when they're little and one that will be their permanent adult home. If you plan on upgrading once, it doesn't matter how long they spend in the...

Re: My Kingsnake Whistles

My carpet python did that for a bit, but I think he stopped after a shed. I haven't heard it in a while.

Re: 4 year old corn snake advice

The advice I hear most often is honestly just to go for it and pick him up. If he bites you, it's not really going to hurt. You normally try not to handle a new snake for a week or so after getting...

Curiosity questions

I'm trying to predict how much my jungle will weigh when he's more or less fully grown. Both his parents were about 7 ft long, but I have no idea how many grams that's likely to translate to. Anyone...

Re: Teddy updates and pics

No more critters. I also got him a shelf, and I'm not sure if the AP dividers work with those. He'll probably keep living in his current home for a bit longer. I feel like the T12 will be overkill...

Re: Teddy updates and pics

Thanks Zig. Funny thing about that is I originally meant to buy a divider with the cage from AP, but then thought I wouldn't need it because I was just going to get him a smaller cage. Apparently I...

Re: Teddy updates and pics

He also perches a lot more nowadays. Pretty much every day I get back from work I find him up there. He's still a spaz, but he seems braver than before.

Re: Teddy updates and pics

Teddy's big boy cage came in today. It took AP almost 14 weeks to ship this to me, which is alright since I don't strictly need it yet, but that is about the longest I've ever had to wait for...

Re: Really Cool Feeding Video

Pretty cool. Is it possible for a snake to eat something that weighs more than it does?
